I have been a traveling nurse with Response 1 Medical Staffing for over a year and have been able to work at five outstanding facilities through them. My name is Kimberly Ward. I am a RN and have been traveling with Response 1 for the last 6 months, but have been a travel nurse for the last year with 2 different companies. Since I love to travel nationally and internationally I thought travel nursing would be the career field for me. When I initially contacted Response 1, I was blown away by the helpfulness of the person answering the phone. Sitha (pronounced Ceetuh) introduced herself and presented a good overall picture of what Response 1 offered for pay rates, housing, and benefits. I was so impressed because no matter what I needed, housing, which allows pets, more housing allowance, different insurance, the opportunities were all there for me.

On my original assignment, the first weekend I found myself placed in a difficult situation between a Doctor and the good of my patient, without support. I ended up making the Doctor angry. The next morning I called to notify Sitha of the situation. Expecting to get voice-mail, I found myself speaking with Sitha directly. She was compassionate and understanding about the situation, I found myself relaxing and was able to go to sleep assured I still had a job.

Since my assignment was close to Sacramento I was able to make a visit to the office of Response 1, where I was greeted like a celebrity. Everyone in the office took time out of their schedule to stop and talk with me, welcoming me to their family. Each person assured me if I needed anything, to contact the office and they would help in any way they could. I have put that promise to good use and still find compassionate, helpful people on the other end of the phone.

I have been a travel nurse for over two years. I worked for two large travel companies prior to joining Response 1 Medical Staffing in June of 2003. Large companies do have advantages and disadvantages, however, no company compares to the family feeling I have had working with Response 1. Response 1 has taken care of me by personally knowing the hospitals and area they send me to. If I want extra hours they will work with the hospital or make arrangements with nearby hospitals. I have been a travel nurse for about eight years, and switched to Response 1 two years ago. Before, when working for the much larger companies, I only spoke with my recruiter at the end of my contract, just long enough to find the next job. Since I have been working with Sitha my life has been a lot easier. I don't have to talk to a different person for every issue, I tell Sitha and she takes care of it. I don't think of Sitha as my recruiter, I think of her as my friend.

The money is much better with Response 1, and they can customize a contract to fit your needs. If you want to work just a few days you can, or if you want to work everyday they can put that together as well.
