I was born and raised in Northern California and worked as a nurse for 9 years before going into the staffing industry. In 2002 after helping another medical staffing company get off the ground, I decided to start a medical staffing company based on Christian values, honesty, and integrity. For the first two years I worked from home with very little initial capital but with the help of a couple of excellent travel nurses and a select group of great hospitals we quickly became one of the fastest growing businesses in Northern California. My goal is to provide a higher level of skilled nurses and take care of them the way they deserve to be taken care of, or the way I would want to be taken care of if I was in their shoes. I am blessed with a dedicated staff and an excellent group of nurses. From the bottom of my heart, I cannot thank them enough for their strong work ethics, determination, and loyalty...

On a personal note, I am Board Member of the American Heart Association and currently training for their marathon to benefit the fight against Heart Disease and Stroke. I also have two beautiful teenage daughters and spend a lot of my free time watching their Soccer games or Basketball games. I am hoping that I can get them through the teenage years without them hating me, or each other. I have a very spoiled Cocker Spaniel who frequently hangs out with me at the office and two cats that I rescued from Coyotes. I enjoy skiing, bicycling, wine tasting, golf, horseback riding, scuba diving, church, and hanging out with my children, nurses, staff, and my friends. Hello, my name is LaJuan Knorr. I consider myself very lucky to be part of the Response 1 Medical Staffing team. My job title at R1MS is Chief Financial Officer.

I was first introduced to R1MS as they were generous sponsors of mine while I was working as Senior Corporate Director in the non-profit world fundraising for the American Heart Association. I have worked closely with the Medical Industry fundraising as well as having a strong background in Sales/Marketing, Finance and Operations. I am proud to have the opportunity to work and partner with such devoted nurses and R1MS staff. This has been a tremendous opportunity to combine my skills using my finance background along with my sales/marketing experience. It is very rewarding to work once again with my corporate sponsors from the non-profit world in a new venue championing our medical professionals.

On a personal note at home I enjoy interior design, faux painting, and antiquing. I am a passionate animal lover, and was fortunate to have worked in a Veterinary Clinic for many years. I have two Yorkshire Terriers, Nicholaus (13 yrs, 5 lbs), and Gracee (4 yrs, 2 lbs.). I also enjoy my grandson, daughter and new husband who now reside in the Sacramento area.

Howdy!! My name is Michelle Hoepermans and I am honored to be the Director of Recruiting for Response 1 Medical Staffing. Since joining the organization in March of 2004, I have seen our family triple in size yet we have been so fortunate to maintain the closeness and the integrity with which we started. We have been blessed with a great group of hard working, dedicated nurses and I am so proud to represent them to our client partners.

As a native Texan, I started my recruiting career in Dallas 13 years ago and, after spending over 4 years in Chicago, I found my way to the Sacramento area. Before joining R1MS, I worked for a large travel nurse company and soon found myself, as well as the nurses I represented, getting lost in the shuffle. It was at that point that I contact Cheree to explore new opportunities and I have been at home ever since.

In my spare time, I love hanging out with my husband and our five year old son—well technically he is a 95 pound Rottweiler/Shepard, but to us he is our extremely spoiled child! We enjoy scuba diving, golfing, hiking, having barbeque parties and spending time with our friends.

My name is Kelly Freeland and I am excited and honored to be the Director of Nursing for Response 1 Medical Staffing. I was first introduced to R1MS as a traveler. I was so impressed at how I was treated that I had no hesitation when asked to join this family when the opportunity presented itself.

Being from Louisiana, I know how important trust is when it comes to taking that first step and travel “cross country”. I traveled for 3.5 years while putting my husband through school. It was one of the best decisions I made. Response One helped make that transition easier for me and my family. They truly became my west coast family.

My interests and loves are my family and my shi-poo puppies. I love exploring this great state. I enjoy white water rafting, snow skiing and site seeing. I am a social butterfly and love to host parties and go wine tasting.

Hi there! My (NEW) name is Lindsay Carter and I am delighted to be a part of the R1MS family as a Nurse Recruiter. I joined the team in November of 2005 and have over 6 years of Nurse Recruiting experience. I have recruited for both Travel and Per Diem nursing and love the challenges and opportunities that each entails. I wear several "hats" here at Response 1 including recruiting for Travel positions, sharing the duties of our 24/7 Registry staffing, and Account Management. I enjoy the diversity of my position and love the fact that each day brings new and exciting challenges.

It is refreshing to me to be part of a team with such high integrity who truly believes in taking care of the people who take care of us!

Hi! I’m Justin Filkins and I’m very excited to be part of the Response 1 Team. I am from a little place in northern California called Redding. I graduated from Chico State and have been living in the greater Sacramento for about 6 years now. I’ve worked in both the home building industry as well as the insurance industry in the past.

I believe in living an active life. Playing basketball, snowboarding and going to the gym are a few of the things that I enjoy doing in my spare time. Family is also very important to me. I have an amazing family. My parents still live in Redding, but my older brother, the teacher, and my beautiful, younger sister, the aesthetician, along with their families, are in Fresno, CA. Luckily I’m in the middle of both Redding and Fresno right now, so it’s easy to visit both when I have a free weekend.

My name is Sandy Bundock and I am very excited to officially become a part of the Response 1 Family. Having worked with Response 1 Medical Staffing through our business partner, Helm Technical Services, for the last two years, this transition is one that I am thrilled to make.

As Project Coordinator, my responsibilities will vary as needed. However, I will be primarily responsible for organizing the new division of Response 1: our housing department. In addition, I will be working with Cheree, as well as the rest of the team, to coordinate medical testing, travel arrangements, or other items that our nurses might require, and acting as a backup resource for our payroll team.

I enjoy spending my 'free time' with my husband, two wonderful children and our menagerie of pets including our new puppy Meeka and our other dog Ross. I look forward to working with you all and the many exciting times ahead.

My name is Joan Barge and was introduced to Response1 through my husband who is helping with the company’s goal in not only helping others, but in helping themselves by staying healthy and fit.

Gaining satisfaction from helping others is something I have always felt driven toward, and I am now extremely happy to be able to be part of such a great team who also supports this same passion.

Aloha, my name is Lisa Hoard. I’m very excited to be a new Response 1 team member. I was first introduced to Response 1 through my husband Brian who works for Crime Alert Security. Brian has a couple of clients at Response 1 Medical Staffing and recommended that I talk to them about a new opportunity. I have 5 children and enjoy spending most of my free time with them. We like to go bike riding, swimming and walking. We also love to go to The Rock Church in Elk Grove. My children and my family are an important part of my life.
